A New You
A New You: Part 1 - Natural Born Sinners
We all have vices—things we know we shouldn’t do, that we tell ourselves not to do, and that we then do anyway. And most of us have been trying to fix those issues for years. We’ve doubled down on will power. We’ve sought counseling. We’ve recruited an accountability partner. And yet, we keep doing what we know we shouldn’t do. In part one, we’ll look at a passage of Scripture that suggests the real problem is we don’t know what the real problem is.
Our habits and undesirable behaviors are merely expressions of the sin that dwells in us.
Here is some Scripture everybody can relate to: “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do. …For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out” Romans 7:15, 18 (NIV). Can I get an “Amen”? Perhaps a “Been there, done that ”? So what do you do when you just can’t seem to be who you know you ought to be?
Fortunately, the gentleman who described the problem provided the answer. In this 4-part series, we’ll walk through some of the most complex, life-changing verses in the New Testament.
