Be Weird: Normal Isn't Working
Be Weird: Normal Isn't Working - Part 1: Weird in a Good Way
As we make our way through life, our culture tends to herd us all in the same direction. Without even realizing it, we begin to look the same, act the same, and want the same things as everyone else. How can we be different in a world that rewards conformity? How can we obey God in a world that seeks to ignore Him? It begins with the renovation of our minds.
Bottom Line: A transformed life isn’t about behaving differently,
it’s about believing differently.
It’s a lie so subtle we don’t even notice it. It goes something like this: “It’s normal to have mountains of debt. It’s normal to have unfulfilling relationships. It’s normal to struggle in your faith. It’s normal to give in to temptation.” We normalize the lie when we buy that car we can’t afford or plunge headfirst into relationship after relationship. All the while, we try to ignore the nagging feeling that something’s not right. God says there’s a better way, but getting there means we’ll have to be—well… weird.
In this 6-part series, we’ll see that God doesn’t want us to blend in with the crowd. Instead, He wants us to renovate our minds in such a way that it leads to a different trajectory in life. Let’s get weird!
