Prelude: Part 1
Prelude: an action or event serving as an introduction to something more important. Much of what we read in the Old Testament seems so far removed from the story and life of Jesus. But without the narratives, prophecy, and poetry in the first section of the Bible, the second section doesn’t make much sense. There’s actually a common theme that holds the entire thing together.
Bottom Line: God will pay any price to welcome home people who don’t deserve it.
If you've ever been in a theater or music hall you know what a prelude feels like. It's the moment before the moment, with excited anticipation, just before the music lowers and the curtain reveals what you've been waiting for. In many ways much of the Bible is like a giant prelude to the life of Jesus.
In the weeks leading up to Easter we’re going to explore some of the stories and prophecies from the Old Testament, in tandem with history, and see how it all points to a promise that God keeps with us to this day.
