Church planting: a missional mindset
We want to be a church that plants churches, bringing the good news of Jesus to every zip code in Kansas and beyond. Grace Point was started as a church plant in the 1970's so church planting is part of our DNA. Since 2015 Grace Point has been a part of planting several churches across Kansas.
La Comunidad in Garden City, Kansas - Madelyn Martinez-Blackwell attended Grace Point for many years, served as our Missions Director and Hispanic Ministry leader. God began to call her to plant in Garden City - one of the most diverse towns in the state. Today her church is comprised of people from many backgrounds and languages. They run a food pantry, serve as an Immigrant Connection site, and love the community well.
Hope United in Wyandotte, County Kansas - Grace Point participated in the first Church Planting Network (CPN) in the Kansas District of the Wesleyan Church. A group of churches pooled resources, time and energy to bring in a Kansas City local - Yort Clark - to plant this new expression.
The Shared Tables in Paxico, KS - Cindy and Ryan Neill began a small dinner ministry in their home as a way to connect with their community. It has grown into a monthly ministry and now includes Champions for Christ a weekly youth sports ministry.
Rooted Community Church in Topeka, KS - Pastor Marc Giffin served as the Worship Pastor at Grace Point for 12 years and felt the calling of the Holy Spirit to plant a church. Grace Point was thrilled to partner with Marc and send him and 115 Grace Point people to start Rooted in October of 2024.
